Largest Outdoor Tea Dance Guinness
World Record for Glasgow
On what felt like one of the coldest days of the year, over 400 dance devotees
registered for the Glasgow Winterfest Tea Dance Tuesday and helped Glasgow
dance its way into the record books by breaking the current UK Guinness
record for the largest Outdoor Tea Dance in the World.
Bolstered up with cups of tea and free scones, everyone waltzed, tangoed,
foxtrotted and quick-stepped their way into the record books - not to mention
the odd Gay Gordons, Slosh and Alley Cat thrown in for good measure
With two hours
of non-stop music from That Swing Sensation and help and advice from Gary
and Susan of the Fly Right Dance Company it was guaranteed that everyone,
from dancing divas to complete beginners, young or old, had a fabulous day.
Well done everyone !
The new record is officially set at 418 dancers - the previous World Record for the largest outdoor tea dance was set in 2005 when 195 couples danced in Trafalgar Square London.

Paul Baville & Becky Schofield came all the way from Yorkshire
to join in the attempt:
Jon Ritchie & Hermie Longalong sax it up a bit.
