Big Band dance raises funds to the "tune" of £1,788.38
From: Brian Doig - Group Co-ordinator, East Kilbride & District Dementia Carers Group
An unqualified success
It is certainly safe to say that the 2010 Big Band Fundraiser held in the Ballerup Hall, East Kilbride was an unqualified success, with a sell-out 230 capacity crowd and many people unable to get tickets for the event due to its popularity.
On the night a great time was definitely had by all and some fabulous music from That Swing Sensation ensured that the dance floor was full from start to finish.
We were delighted that through ticket sales and the prize draw, the Group made a net profit on the evening of £1,788.38 all of which will go towards providing quality care to people with dementia and their carers.
The evening was such a huge success, that by popular demand, the event will be repeated on Friday 12th November 2010.
It is sure to sell out once again when tickets go on sale in September.
... and there's more ...
At the event, Sainsburys Olympia handed over a cheque for £3,400 to the Dementia Carers Group. Since staff at the store first selected the Dementia Carers as their Charity partner, the Group has now received the incredible sum of £11,695.57 thanks to the generosity of customers and colleagues alike.
During the night the group's Chairman, John Vance, and Group Co-ordinator, Brian Doig, launched the ‘Proud To Support’ campaign.
