That Swing Sensation are a group of Scottish musicians, brought together by Glasgow-based saxophonist Jon Ritchie, who play live jazz , big band swing and dance music for weddings, dinners, festivals, functions and charity events all round Scotland.
Able to adapt to most venues, the band prides itself on being able to
put together a programme that will be enjoyed by everyone whether their
taste lies with big band, swing, ballroom, jive or Rock and Roll.
The band are in the fortunate position to be performing every month at dances, weddings, festivals and functions in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Ayr, Stirling and throughout Scotland in combinations from jazzy duets, through trios, quartets and quintets up to a full 17 piece big band.
Quick Facts about Swing Sensation
• They are one of Scotland's busiest bands with performances from Inverness
in the north to the Dumfries and Galloway and the Borders in the south.
• They have now produced the programme for two Guinness World Dance
Records
• They developed, co-ordinated and performed the Jazz and Big Band dance music
for the Dance Zone at The Glasgow Show.
•They produce the only regular monthly big
band dance nights in Glasgow
•They perform seasonal live Swing music for Glasgow and Edinburgh
•In 2010 they heped to raise over £7,000 for charity

The music features tunes made famous by the likes of Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra, and the Rat Pack as well as more modern arrangements as used by Robbie Williams, Michael Buble and Paul Anka. They have also been known to enjoy a bit of good old Rock and Roll and are more than able to provide suitable music for just about anything from Rumbas, Tangos and Cha Chas to a touch of ABBA:-)
